Parker and Fler Sideboard Value: What They Sell For in Australia
What is a Parker or Fler sideboard worth in Australia? Selected auction results, restored dealer asking prices, why they differ, and how to price yours.

Quick summary
Selected Australian auction results for Parker and Fler sideboards sold for roughly $950 to $1,600 before buyer’s premium. Restored examples have been listed by dealers for about $1,500 to $4,200. These are examples, not a valuation range, because model and condition change the result a lot. Check the maker’s label, condition and comparable sold lots before you set a price.

What Is a Parker Sideboard Worth?
Three Parker sideboards from Lawsons sales are useful examples. They are not a typical range. These are the sold prices shown on each lot page:
- A Nordic teak sideboard with three doors, four drawers and cat’s eye handles (183 cm wide, newly restored) sold for $1,500 at Lawsons in September 2024, against an estimate of $1,200 to $1,800.
- An elevated four-door Parker sideboard with cat’s eye handles (228 cm wide) sold for $1,600 in Lawsons’ August 2024 furniture sale, against an estimate of $800 to $1,200.
- A six-drawer Parker sideboard (152 cm wide, label worn off) sold for $1,300 at a Lawsons Penrith sale in May 2025, against an estimate of $300 to $500.
Dealers price the same maker differently. Restored Parker sideboards listed in October 2026 ran from about $1,500 for a vintage piece to $3,245 to $3,960 for restored Nordic and cat’s eye models, and $4,200 for a fully restored 212 cm sideboard. A listed price is what a dealer is asking, not what a buyer has paid, and we could not confirm which pieces are still available.
What Is a Fler Sideboard Worth?
Our auction evidence for Fler is thinner. A 1960s teak Fler sideboard (214 cm wide) sold for $950 at Leonard Joel in May 2024, against an estimate of $600 to $800. That is one result, so treat it as a single data point rather than a market.
Dealer listing prices we found for restored Fler sideboards ran from about $1,590 for a Fler 64 to $3,099 for a larger one, with a Flervilla sideboard at $3,800. Most of these listings are now marked sold or sold out, so they show past asking prices, not current stock or confirmed sale prices.
Why Dealer Prices Run Higher Than Auction Results
The same type of piece can show $1,500 at auction and $3,900 in a shop. Three things explain most of it:
- Buyer’s premium. The sold price at auction is the hammer price. Lawsons’ lot page states a 27% buyer’s premium, and Leonard Joel’s states 25%. On those lots, a $1,500 hammer price becomes about $1,905 and a $950 hammer price becomes about $1,188, before GST on the premium. Rates vary by auction house and sale.
- Collection. Lawsons does not offer shipping and charges $10 per lot per day for late collection, so a large sideboard also needs a carrier or a trailer.
- Restoration and retail. A dealer’s price usually covers stripping, repolishing and repairs, plus the cost of running a shop. You are buying a finished piece, not one sold as found.
Our read: auction hammer prices show what buyers paid for a piece as found, and dealer prices show what a finished piece costs.
What Makes a Parker or Fler Sideboard More Valuable?
Our sample is too small to rank these factors, but the listings point to what buyers compare:
- Model and handles. Dealer listings name the line (Nordic) and the handle style (cat’s eye, lip, square), so these are the details buyers search for.
- Length. Sideboards in these results ranged from 152 cm to 228 cm. Measure yours, because it decides which rooms it fits.
- Condition and finish. Restoration quality drives most of the dealer price. Check for water marks, lifted veneer, sticking drawers and missing handles.
- The label. A worn label did not stop the six-drawer Parker reaching $1,300, but a clear maker’s mark makes a piece easier to sell and to describe honestly.
Prices above come from selected 2024 and 2025 sales and from dealer listings seen in October 2026. Re-check comparable sales before you price.
How to Check It Is Genuinely Parker or Fler
Look inside the drawers and on the back for a label, stamp or branded mark. Be careful with listings that say “Parker style” or “retro”, because those words describe a look, not the maker. Our guide to Fler, Featherston, Meadmore and Parker furniture shows what to look for. If you cannot find a mark, say so in your listing rather than guessing.
How to Price Your Sideboard
- Identify it. Note the maker, model if known, handle style, timber and measurements.
- Find sold prices, not estimates. Auction house archives show the hammer price. Estimates are only an opinion.
- Decide where yours sits. A piece sold as found is closer to auction results, and a restored piece is closer to dealer prices.
- Compare and adjust. Compare your sideboard with similar private-sale listings and recent auction results. Adjust for its condition, restoration, model and collection requirements. Set an asking price that leaves reasonable room for negotiation.
- Photograph the evidence. Show the label, the drawer interiors, the top surface and any damage.
If you think your piece is exceptional, or you need a figure for insurance or an estate, a formal valuation is a different job. Our furniture valuation guide explains how valuations and auction appraisals work.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a Parker sideboard worth?
In the selected auction results we found, Parker sideboards sold for about $1,300 to $1,600 before buyer’s premium. Restored examples were listed by dealers from about $1,500 to $4,200. Model and condition can move a result well outside those figures.
How much is a Fler sideboard worth?
We found one Fler sideboard sold at auction, for $950 before buyer’s premium. Dealer listing prices for restored Fler sideboards ran from about $1,590 to $3,800. Listing prices are asking prices, not sale prices.
Is a restored Parker sideboard worth more?
Dealers list restored pieces at higher prices than auction results. At auction, a newly restored Parker sold for $1,500, in line with a longer, unrestored one at $1,600, so restoration does not guarantee a higher hammer price. The sample is small.
Why do dealers charge more than auction results?
Auction prices exclude the buyer’s premium and usually the cost of collection. Dealer prices include restoration, overheads and the convenience of a finished piece.
Where can I check what a Parker or Fler sideboard sold for?
Auction houses such as Lawsons and Leonard Joel publish sold prices on their lot pages. Carters Price Guide also lists sold pieces, though the public pages we saw did not show prices.
How do I tell if a sideboard is genuinely Parker or Fler?
Look for a label or stamp inside the drawers or on the back. Listings that say “Parker style” or “retro” may not be by the maker. Our mid-century furniture guide covers what to look for.
Where is the best place to sell a Parker or Fler sideboard in Melbourne?
It depends on whether you want the highest price, the fastest sale or the least effort. Selling directly on Zirkly lets you set your own price and arrange pick-up with a local buyer, which suits large pieces.
